Rodrygo lifts Real Madrid 6-0 over Galatasaray

MADRID - Rodrygo scores his first Champions League hat trick during Wednesday evening’s match at Santiago Bernabéu securing Real Madrid a 6-0 clean sheet against Galatasaray.
Coming off a 0-0 draw on Saturday versus Real Betis, Real Madrid scored three goals in the first 14 minutes of the match. The 18 year old from São Paulo, Brazil Rodrygo recorded the first goal of his hat trick in the fourth minute of play, followed up by a second goal in the seventh minute. Sergio Ramos scored a penalty kick making it 3-0 Real Madrid (2-1-1; Champions) (7-4-1; La Liga).
Galatasaray’s Steven Nzoni committed a penalty in the 13th minute. The Var awarded Real Madrid a penalty determining Nzoni would receive a yellow card and Ramos would take the kick.
Karim Benzema was also in the spotlight Wednesday after scoring in the 45th and 81st minutes, scoring his 50th goal as a Real Madrid forward in the Champions League. Santiago Bernabéu was a vibrant scene for all in attendance, but a bit more celebration from Madrid supporters.
Real Madrid was in control of Wednesday evening’s match from the first whistle. Madrid executed half of their shots on goal with a total of 21 attempts, while Galatasaray (0-1-3; Champions) (5-4-2; Süper Lig) was struggled to maintain possession.
Clouds hovered over the pitch as a brisk 11 degrees Celsius filled the air. The cold weather did not stop Real Madrid’s most loyal fans and the stadium was nearly full. Cheering was heard from every corner of the stadium, fans could be heard singing “!HALA MADRID Y NADA MÁS!”
Real Madrid Head coach Zinedine Zidane has won 118 out the 176 games he has coached in his career at Real Madrid. Zidane has won three Champions League titles, making him the first coach to do so consecutively proving to be one of Europe’s most successful clubs.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made eight saves Wednesday evening, blocking all shots from the Galatasaray offense receiving a shutout to conclude the match.
The 13 time Champions League winners face La Liga matchup SD Eibar 9 November at Municipal de Ipurua in Eibar, Gipuzkoa. While Galatasaray is set to play Istanbul Basaksehir 22 November in the Süper Lig.
