HYANNIS — Goals from Dennis-Yarmouth’s Trevor Luke and Mashpee-Monomoy’s Cam Coomber accounted for all offense, and strong goaltending from both sides led to a 1-1 tie in the Varsity hockey matchup Wednesday night.

The Dolphins and the Monarchs each scored on a power play. D-Y’s (0-1-2) Trevor Luke made it 1-0 5:41 into the second period, while Mashpee-Monomoy defender Cole Currie was serving a four-minute penalty.

The puck deflected off Cam Coomber’s stick of Mashpee-Monomoy (2-1-1) scoring with 5:14 left in the second period as Kyle Gabri received the assist on a slap shot. Mashpee-Monomoy was on the power play, coming from D-Y forward Tyler McFarland’s hit from behind.

D-Y’s Tommy Julian and Josh Benoit worked off their own breakaways that would have been go ahead points but offensively they couldn't navigate the Monarch’s defense.

Mashpee-Monomoy Senior Jack Daigneault made 19 saves, including one on a breakaway late in the third period.

The third period was a battle as both teams showed their urgency through multiple scoring opportunities but neither squad could seal the win.
